Rather than the traditional approach of crawling through several specialized sites one by one and listing them, I use a method where I ask AI "What gatherings are happening in this area during this period?" and have it pick them up. This creates opportunities for chance encounters with events in genres you didn't know about.
The ability to switch between map view and card view was also important to me. I wanted to satisfy both the thought "If I'm going to that area Saturday afternoon, is there anything nearby?" and "I want to see interesting events in order." Both approaches work in a single app.
