Why I Created Charmly ~ "I Wanted to Get a 'Professional-Looking Photo' for Dating Apps Without Going to a Studio"

Introduction

Charmly is a web service that uses AI to generate profile photos for dating apps. Simply upload a single selfie, and in as little as 60 seconds, you'll have "a photo that looks professionally shot"—keeping your face, hairstyle, and body type intact while changing only the scene and clothing.

This article summarizes why I decided to create this service, the innovations made during development, and future plans.

Why I Created It

To succeed on dating apps, the quality of your profile photo is overwhelmingly important. However, hiring a professional photographer costs tens of thousands of yen, and there's the hassle of arranging costumes, booking studios, and traveling.

開発で工夫したこと

• 「顔・髪型を保つ」精度の追求：単純な画像生成ではなく、本人らしさが残るプロンプト設計とパラメータ調整に時間をかけた
• プリセットと自由入力のハイブリッドUI：初心者は4項目を選ぶだけ、上級者は自由入力でこだわれる
• クレジット制で都度購入：マッチングアプリ用は短期間で集中して作りたいニーズが多いため、サブスクではなく買い切り型に
• 多言語ローカライズ：海外ユーザーにも届くよう、最初から13言語対応で公開
