# napps 100 Tools Achievement Milestone — Why I Created It

The free web tool "napps" has finally reached 100 tools.

To commemorate this, I'm writing about how this service came to be. It's not a perfectly polished story, but I'm writing it honestly.

Until Independence

Starting from web development, moving through full-stack, and into infrastructure. I spent about 13 years in development work as a company employee. After that, I became independent.

My practical work was only development—I barely did any management, sales, or marketing. Because of that, I also had the desire to learn these things through real experience, not just theory.

Why I Decided to Start from Zero

Before opening my business, a thought crossed my mind: "relying on former colleagues and business partners." It's efficient and seems like the standard approach.

But I wondered if that would really create a truly strong foundation. If something went wrong, wouldn't I just end up back at zero anyway, and cause trouble for my family? After worrying about this, I decided: "If I'm going to end up at zero anyway, I might as well start from zero."

The Preparation Was Perfect. The Inquiries Were Zero.

At first, I tried to turn what I could do into a business, focusing on homepage creation and business automation.

I needed to handle project management, accounting, and sales by myself, so I learned by creating dedicated management tools for each. When everything was ready, I thought to myself:

"Alright. Now I can respond perfectly whenever a client comes."

I made business cards and flyers and distributed them around town. I also registered on Crowdworks and Lancers.

About one month passed. I received absolutely zero inquiries.

I was so desperate that I would have welcomed even a complaint if it meant getting at least one request.

What I Realized

Even if I put "ntones" on my business name, from others' perspective, I had zero credibility. Of course. If I were a customer, I'd ask an established company.

Even if I focused solely on getting orders from the start, nobody would hire someone they couldn't trust. That's when I realized it.

So I Created Free Tools

The idea that came to me was a collection of free online tools.

When I was an employee, I used them myself and was truly grateful to the operators. If I could provide something equally useful, maybe people would gradually come to know the name "ntones." With that hope, I started creating, and released the first version when I had 60 tools ready.

It was meaningful to include "ntones" in the name, so initially I called it "ntones apps."

However, "it's hard to read," "it's long," "people won't remember it if they can't say it out loud." Thinking about this, I shortened it to "napps (Napps)."

Now

Since then, I've continued adding tools, and this time we've reached 100.

Even now, it remains login-free, server data non-sending, and permanently free. While working on homepage improvements and guides like "use by purpose," I'll continue adding more user-friendly interfaces and tools.

無料Webツール「napps」が、ようやく100ツールに到達しました。

記念に、このサービスができた経緯を書いておきます。うまくまとまった話ではないですが、正直に書きます。

## 独立まで

Webから始まり、フルスタック、インフラまで。会社員として計13年ほど開発の現場にいました。そのあと独立しました。

実務は開発ばかりで、経営・営業・マーケティングはほとんどやっていませんでした。だからこそ、机上ではなく実体験として身につけたい、という気持ちもありました。

## ゼロから始めると決めた理由

開業前、頭をよぎったのは「昔の同僚や取引先に頼る」という道です。効率もいいし、一般的でもあると思います。

でも、それでは本当に強い地盤にならないのではないか。どこかでコケたら結局ゼロに戻り、家族にも迷惑をかけるのではないか。そう悩んだ末に、「どうせゼロになるなら、最初からゼロでいい」と判断しました。

## 準備は完璧だった。依頼はゼロだった

最初は、自分にできることを事業にしようと、ホームページ制作や業務自動化を主軸にしました。

案件管理、経理、営業も一人でやる必要があるので、それぞれ専用の管理ツールを作りながら学びました。準備が整ったとき、心の中ではこう思っていました。

「よし。これでいつ客が来ても完璧に対応できる」

名刺やチラシも作り、街中で配りました。クラウドワークスやランサーズにも登録しました。

約1か月。依頼は、まったく来ませんでした。

クレームでもいいから1件届いてくれ、と思うくらい辛かったです。

## 気づいたこと

屋号に「ntones」とつけても、他者から見れば信頼のかけらもない。当たり前です。ぼくが客なら、知名度のある会社に頼みます。

最初から受注だけに注力しても、信頼できない相手には誰も頼まない。そこに気づきました。

## だから、無料ツールをつくった

思いついたのが、フリーのオンラインツール集です。

会社員のころ、自分もよく使っていて、運営者さんには本当に感謝していました。同じように役立つものを出せば、ntonesの名前を少しずつ知ってもらえるかもしれない。その希望から制作を始め、60ツールまでできた時点で初回リリースしました。

名前に「ntones」を入れることに意味があったので、最初は「ntones apps」としました。

ただ、「読めない」「長い」「口に出してもらえないと覚えてもらえない」。そう考えて、短くした「napps（ナップス）」に決めました。

## いま

あれからツールを増やし続け、今回100に到達しました。

今もログイン不要・サーバー非送信・永久無料のままです。トップページの改修や「目的から使う」ガイドなども進めつつ、これからも使いやすい入口と道具を増やしていきます。
