What Konyaku Can Do

• Enter a station name or address, and the map will show you whether that location was a river, sea, rice field, or mountain during the Meiji period
• You can trace how the town has changed through aerial photographs from seven different time periods, from the Meiji period to the present
• Open "Why can we say that?" to see all the materials and classifications from the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan used in the determination
• You can also read what might happen based on the land's origins, such as reclaimed land or embankments
• You can save places you're interested in and share them to other devices using a passphrase

When to Use

• When you're taking a walk and think, "I wonder what this place used to be"
• Before moving or buying a house, when you want to check the history of the land
• When thinking about disaster prevention in your own town
• When you like Bura Tamori or old maps and want to research places near you

While Google Maps answers "what is there now," Konyaku answers "what kind of land is it." The determination is not a substitute for hazard maps, but rather an entry point for tracing materials.
