# NormalMapAI — Free Online Normal Map and PBR Texture Generator
NormalMapAI (https://normalmapai.com/) is a free, zero-login Normal Map Generator and PBR Texture Maker on in-browser WebGL2. Drop a 2D photo to make tangent-space normals (OpenGL +Y and DirectX -Y), 16-bit height and displacement, roughness, AO, metallic, curvature, specular, emissive, and ORM maps, plus seamless tiles and transparent PNG decals. Preview on sphere, cube, plane, cylinder, or torus. Exports suit glTF, Blender, UE5, and Unity. Pixels stay on-device. Pricing is Free.
Relief prints use the 16-Bit 3D Print Relief Height Map Generator: a 16-bit grayscale height field for displacement or lithophanes.
Normals flip between OpenGL green-up and DirectX green-down. Height exports as 16-bit PNG. ORM packs occlusion, roughness, and metallic for glTF and Unreal. Seamless mode tiles textures. Fit: Design, Developer Tools, 3D, and Data Processing.
In Blender, set a Normal Map node to tangent space, connect 16-bit height to Displacement, and feed roughness, metallic, and AO into Principled BSDF (OpenGL +Y). In UE5, sample ORM as R occlusion, G roughness, B metallic, and plug the DirectX (-Y) normal into Normal. Unity URP/HDRP uses the same normal plus height for parallax.
Upload? No. WebGL2 stays local. Paid? No, free, no login. Which normal? OpenGL (+Y) for Blender/glTF; DirectX (-Y) for Unreal and many Unity pipelines. Why 16-bit? Displacement and 3D-print relief keep midtones 8-bit crushes.
