Before my child's regular exams, I wanted to make their efforts visible by subject, so at home I printed a table on paper and used it.
It was a very simple method—just sticking stickers on the subjects they studied.
However, when you start using it about two months before the test, the paper ends up being split across multiple sheets.
"How much progress are we making now?"
"Which subjects are we focusing too much on?"
"How much time is left until the actual exam?"
These things became a bit harder to see at a glance.
So, while keeping the casual feel of a paper table, I created "Petalog"—an app where you can record your efforts with a simple tap on your smartphone.
Petalog is a simple record sheet where you can log your efforts in studying, practice, qualification learning, and more, using stickers as your guide.
It's very easy to use.
That's it.
There's no need for detailed time input or registering material names.
When you look at the weekly table, you can see at a glance:
You can review your recorded activities by week or across the entire period.
You can check your effort amount for each item using a horizontal bar graph, so it becomes easier to notice imbalances like:
"I've been doing only math"
"Science was a bit neglected"
Rather than managing precise study hours,
it's designed to be used as a record for viewing the balance of your efforts.
When creating a sheet, you can set:
On the screen, you can record weekly, and weekends and holidays are displayed in an easy-to-distinguish way.
I designed it so you can make steady progress while seeing "how many weeks are left."
It's not just for studying;
it's designed to be used in situations where you want to continue several things in a balanced way.
The most important thing about Petalog was
that recording itself wouldn't become a burden.
And also,
that effort and imbalances would naturally become visible just by looking at the table.
I combined the casual feel of a paper sticker chart with the clarity and ease of reflection that a web app provides.
Do it, then tap.
A simple record sheet where your effort and imbalances become visible.
