Shoot 4K log video on your iPhone
Log Cam: RAW 4K Video Camera is an iPhone app for shooting log video, the flat, low-contrast footage you grade afterwards to get the highlight and shadow detail back. Every clip lands in the app's own gallery, so there is one place to look after you press stop.
It applies its own log curves in its own GPU pipeline rather than asking iOS for Apple Log, so the profiles are not limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and later that Apple's own Log requires. It needs iOS 17.6 or later.
Seven profiles: Apple Log, Apple Log 2, S-Log3, Log-C3, V-Log, F-Log and F-Log2. It records ProRes 422 HQ, 422 or 422 LT, or 10-bit HEVC in 4:4:4 or 4:2:0, from 30 to 500 Mbps. Import your own .cube LUT to preview the graded picture while you shoot. A linear histogram, zebras at a threshold you pick, and false color show you where the exposure is. Set ISO, shutter and white balance by hand, and adjust focus, ISO and shutter while recording.
Whatever iPhone you have, you get the most that phone is capable of. Lens, crop, frame rate and codec have to hold together as a combination, and the app works that out on your device, so you shoot at your hardware's full quality instead of a safe minimum.
